Scar Force, TruthQuest's exciting sci-fi themed VBS will take kids back to the beginning, where the epic saga of God versus evil began, and take them on a sweeping adventure through the key moments of all the Bible. From the Garden of Eden to the escape from Egypt, from the rise and fall of Israel to the arrival of God's Chosen One, kids will see the unfolding epic saga of God's fight for our lives, culminating in His triumphant return in the book of Revelation. This is the real saga. This is the true force.

Scar Force will train children to not merely believe in Jesus, but to become J-Di's (Jesus Disciples). Serving Jesus in all of their thoughts, words and actions, these J-Di's will become a Scar Force, serving our scarred Master and standing for His Truth and justice. Scar Force will be presented over a period of five days as follows:

After God creates the heavens and the earth, evil enters the earth and manipulates the fall of man, leading to a spiraling decline which results in a catastrophic global flood. But in the wake of this disaster, God chooses Abram, one man to become the father of a new nation–a nation from which hope will come...

"Episode I" will train kids about the devastating effects of sin and why we need to be saved from it, and that the only remedy rests in God's Promise.

Years after Joseph became the leader of Egypt, the Hebrew people have become slaves to the Egyptians. But God has heard their cries and sent Moses to lead His people out of slavery through a series of devastating plagues. Now free of Egypt, the Hebrews struggle to establish a nation of their own, taking possession of the land which God had promised them...

"Episode II" will show kids that God has chosen us to come out of our sin and to enter His rest by placing our trust in Him.

After a chaotic period of judges, God gives Israel a king of their own, eventually placing David on the throne. Although David serves God wholeheartedly, the kingdom soon descends into rebellion and depravity, suffering a split and enduring rule by one wicked king after another. Finally, despite numerous warnings by God, all of Israel and Judah are taken again into slavery, this time by Assyria and Babylon. Yet, even in this dark hour, a light shines, heralding the promise of a Deliverer...

"Episode III" will show kids the inevitable failure that comes when we go our own way, challenging kids to keep God on the throne in their lives.

It is a dark time. God has been silent for 400 years, and Israel has been oppressed by the Greeks and the Romans. But now, a Child whose coming has been long foretold has been born. This Child, whose name is Jesus, will grow into a Man who will heal the sick and teach what is right, offering a new promise to all who would receive it. Even so, evil seemingly wins a great victory as Jesus is arrested and put to death, apparently putting an end to God's plan. But in a wondrous turn of events, Jesus rises from the dead, and hope is alive and well...

"Episode IV" will demonstrate to kids that Jesus is the fulfillment of all of God's promises throughout the Bible, and that He alone can deliver us from our constant battles against sin.

It has been some 2000 years since the resurrection of Jesus and His return to Heaven, and the days once again appear dark. Mankind has continued his spiral into depravity, and scoffs at the few faithful who still await the promised return of Christ. Yet, as the oppression of God's people escalates, Jesus is readying His triumphant return to earth, mounting an epic final assault on the forces of evil that will once and for all vanquish evil from existence...

"Episode V" will explain that Jesus will one day return to earth, and although we don't know the precise timing or details of how it will unfold, we can be certain of these things: It will certainly happen, Jesus will be victorious, and we should always be ready by living to please Him.

 

Scar Force is not intended to elevate the Star Wars franchise to the level of being a Bible tool, nor is it intended to harm the Star Wars franchise by attacking its mythology. Like most people, we love the Star Wars films simply because they are entertaining, not because we believe they push any spiritual or political agenda.

We acknowledge that the Star Wars films contain some content that is not honoring to God, and it is not our intent to either endorse or condemn the films, nor to offend those who might find them objectionable. However, we also acknowledge that the vast majority of kids have repeatedly seen and enjoyed these films, and our intent is to use that fact for the advantage of God's Kingdom. As such, Scar Force will not directly expose kids to any content from the Star Wars franchise, but will instead make good-natured spoofs and references to the films while concentrating its energy on solid, in-depth Bible teaching. While we expect that the churches who use this product may have fun decorating and using costumes that reflect Star Wars, and while we hope that great fun is had in doing so, our hope and desire is that the Bible teaching of Scar Force will be the focus.

While some parallels can be drawn between Star Wars and the Bible, this is not the primary intent of Scar Force. Instead, our goal is to show kids the differences between Star Wars mythology and God's Word. For example, while Star Wars shows a "force" with equal parts good and evil, God's Word shows God to be vastly more powerful than Satan. Similarly, while Star Wars shows man to be in control of the "force," the Bible shows that we must surrender control to God.

Our goal is for kids to view the Bible as the true epic saga, wherein they are participants, faced with the daily choice to honor God, and seeing from Biblical history that to rebel against God is to choose slavery to evil.

The truth is, the love and power of God account for the only force that can change our lives. Our kids' interest in the Star Wars franchise is a reality of our world, but the Truth of God's Word is the reality that determines eternity for them. We believe that the love our kids have for the Star Wars franchise can be used as an effective tool to help them fall in love with the epic saga of God's Word, and the Savior of whom it speaks. Our goal is not merely to make believers, but to make Jesus Disciples (J-Di's) who will follow after Him daily. May the Lord be with you!
